Qualifying Criteria

􀂃 Grade 11 or equivalent qualification

􀂃 Engineering Trade certificate

􀂃 Engineering Supervisor certificate will be advantageous

􀂃 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer

􀂃 Trackless Mining experience will be advantageous

􀂃 Computer literacy (MS packages with emphasis on excel)

􀂃 Must possess good report writing skills

􀂃 Must be in position of COMSOC I & II 2 or SAMTRAC

􀂃 Knowledge and practical experience in SHE system implementation and auditing

􀂃 Knowledge of relevant legislation, mine standards and procedures (Auditors/ OHSAS 18001/ ISO 14001), etc.

􀂃 Knowledge of Investigation and auditing systems

􀂃 Knowledge of base line risk assessments and risk management

􀂃 Must have a valid driver’s license

􀂃 South African Citizenship

􀂃 Clear Criminal Record

Note This position will require the successful candidate to be declared medical fit by our OHP

Brief Outline of Duties

A brief outline of duties will include, but will not be limited to the following :

􀂃 Candidate must be self-driven and disciplined

􀂃 Conduct Health and Safety Audits in the workplace and give remedial actions where required

􀂃 Identify, analyse and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices

􀂃 Participate in the development of hazard control programmes

􀂃 Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control programmes

􀂃 Analyse incidents and no-conformances in order to identify deficiencies and contributing factors in the SHE management

􀂃 Facilitate investigations

􀂃 Facilitate and participate in SHE meetings

􀂃 Communicate and distribute standards and procedures to relevant stakeholders

􀂃 Perform all Health and Safety related duties in general on the Mine as per Gold One Group Limited standards

􀂃 Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1 Group Limited
